Wish Fulfillment

A few weeks ago, you may remember that I drafted a small Wish List of underrated young adult fantasy titles that I'd love to own and read sometime. 

Well, I decided to track down and purchase some of those books sooner rather than later. Taking advantage of some tempting sales going on at one of my new favorite online book retailers, I gave in and bought the following books:


  • Firelight by Sophie Jordan
  • Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock
  • Bones of Faerie by Janni Lee Simner
  • Monstrous Beauty by Elizabeth Fama
  • Written in Read by Anne Bishop

I can say with great pleasure that it looks like I have a lot of mermaids, dragons, faeries, ghosts, shapeshifters, and all-around general magic in my near future.

    Oooh lots of new fantasy titles! I'll admit, it's not my favorite genre, but I always find myself drawn to the covers. I do enjoy Sophie Jordan's other books (both YA and NA) but I've not yet read her Firelight series. I hope you enjoy them all!

      Hi Kim! I agree, YA fantasy covers really are eye-catching. As for Sophie Jordan, this will be the first book I read by her. I will keep an eye out for her other YA/NA titles. :)

    Hemlock! Really enjoyed it, I read it when I was still in my 'Werewolf phase' but it was goooood. :) Haven't read the sequel yet though.

      I love me a good werewolf novel, Kirsty. Did you happen to read Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause during your werewolf phase? It's perhaps the best of its genre (that I've read so far).

      Hey Katherine. I am easily wooed by YA fantasy covers, though sometimes the covers are much better than the story the book contains.

    They all look good. I love print books. I like being able to smell the ink and flip back and forth through the pages. I'm hoping you enjoy Hemlock. I might be reading it soon.

      Oh yes, me too, Laura. I am a dedicated print-lover. I've recently tried out ebooks, but they were graphic novels. I've yet to read plain text via ebook yet.

      I haven't read a good urban fantasy in a while. I think the closest to the genre was Blue Lily, Lily Blue. Any suggestions for me?

    Looks so good! I'm a fantasy junkie myself and I'm procrastinating reading Murder of Crows, Anne Bishop is an author I plan to discover more of next year.
